Rev. Dr. Nii Amoo Darku is a renowned, retired Ghana Baptist Convention Minister. He retired from Bethel Baptist Church in 2012. He served in the Ghana Baptist Convention as Pastor for 34 years and as a Vice-President for 7 years. He was an associate minister at Grace Baptist Church in Kumasi, from 1987 to 1995 and served as the acting Senior Pastor in the absence of the Senior Pastor when he left for the US to study.

Rev. Dr. Nii Amoo Darku moved in 1995 to Accra to serve as the Team Leader of African Enterprise (a Christian Evangelistic Organization involved in City Evangelism on the continent of Africa). He, at the same time, doubled as the Senior Pastor of Bethel Baptist the same year.  Rev. Dr. Nii Amoo Darku was at different times appointed to serve as the Pan-African Missions Director and a Deputy International Team Leader during his time with African Enterprise from 1995 to 2009.

Rev. Dr. Nil Amoo Darku has been in ministry for the past 43 years in various capacities. He has served as an evangelical leader in Ghana where he led teams to Dr. Billy Graham’s gathering of evangelists in Amsterdam and also to Luasanne in Manila in the Philippines. He was part of the initial planning team to the last meeting at Cape Town, South Africa. Rev. Dr. Nii Amoo Darku served with the late Robert Williams in the Missions team of BGEA, and together with his colleague in Ghana, Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante, traveled to Los Angeles in the USA to translate Dr. Billy Graham’s sermons into local dialects for the purposes of evangelism in Ghana.

In the year 2009, Rev. Dr. Nh Amoo Darku was appointed to serve Ghana as a Member of the Council of State of the Republic. He was at the same time appointed by President John Evans Atta Mills to serve as his personal Chaplain. These positions he held until the demise of the President in 2012, and the end of his term in 2013 respectively.

Rev. Dr. Nil Amoo Darku served as a board member of the National Peace Council for two terms, from 2011 to 2020.  In 2010, Rev. Dr. Nii Amoo Darku was appointed the chairman of the African Enterprise Ghana board, a position he has held till now. This position and his appointment on the International Board of African Enterprise, comes to an end this coming November.
Academically, Rev. Dr. Nil Amoo Darku, schooled at various institutions and
culminated with a Master’s and Doctorate degrees from Columbia International University in Columbia, South Carolina. Rev. Dr. Nii Amoo Darku has authored 10 books on various themes, some of which he used as test books at various institutions. Rev. Dr. Nii Amoo Darku and his late wife started training Ghanaian Baptist graduate students from the various universities going on their National Service postings in Evangelism and Missions at a Centre his family operates in Kumasi, pro-pono. The center offers accommodation, food, books,tuition, all free of charge, and also pay for their transportation cost.

His wife of 43 years, went to be with the Lord in November of 2021. She left behind a husband (Rev. Dr. Nil Amoo Darku), five adult children, and 13 grandchildren. Rev. Dr. Nii Amoo Darko is currently married to Mrs Bertha A. Amoo-Darku.
